Question
Being an adult, you know a lot about working in groups in school or at work. This is a skill that is very applicable to both the real world and the working world, since most organizations work in groups or teams. However, today you are part of a group where there are some challenging aspects. There are three members in your group: Marcus, Brianna and yourself. Marcus is a leader but is leading your group in the wrong direction you believe. The assignment is to determine your stance on integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the workforce (bank tellers, gas attendants, etc.), determining, through research, what is currently happening and what the group's recommendations are with regard to using technology in this way. However, Marcus is researching more about how AI is developed - which isn't the assignment. Brianna on the other hand is doing nothing - she has missed both your meetings and hasn't submitted her portion of the research to Marcus or you. You are feeling disrespected by Brianna, due to her lack of dedication and follow-through. But on the other hand, you don't want to be disrespectful of the hard work Marcus has done, even though you believe it is off target for the assignment.
1. How will you handle this situation with Marcus?
2. How will you handle this situation with Brianna?
3. How do you think this situation could impact your respect for others or of being respected by others?
