Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) has a Telestroke program that has worked with more than 30 community hospitals in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire to provide care for patients with stroke or emergency neurology situations for the past 20 years (Moreno et al, 2018). Patients arrive at the community hospitals with acute neurologic symptoms. Community hospitals start image study right way and pages MGH TeleStroke/Emergency TeleNeurology service. Within 5 minutes, through video consultation, experts can review imaging and examine patients at these centers to help diagnose and recommend a plan of care and further communicate and exchange notes through a web portal.
