Time le Remanufacturing of automobile parts is a well-established industry, as evidenced by the number of companies engaged in refurbishing and distribution. Remakurat quality must be maintained and kept in compliance with original manufacturer standards. This is not a new concept, since a multitude of parts ranging from engines and transmissions to smaller accessories are flooding the market from a variety of sources. New technologies, however, are enabling new methods of refurbishing and preser potential for opportunity and increased profits for some existing companies. Moonlight Auto Remanufacturing Lid., a subsidiary of Sunshine Holdings Inc., wants to initiate a new structure and process to streamline their remanufacturing operation As with most industries, stiff competition and reduced profitability require that some sort of action be taken to maintain a presence. Sunshine Holdings have agreed to pro financing to improve the plant and assist in diversification efforts. Executives at Moonlight Auto believe that adopting a solid human resource plan and organizational structure will turn the company around quickly and provide good quali at a competitive price. Management strongly believes that the following factors can contribute to the success they seek: (1) building strong teams relying on the notion of small business units or team accountability will contribute to strong group effort. (2) allowing teams or groups to be responsible for all aspects in changing the process, allocating resources, and even having a say in hiring of new employees. (3) developing and adopting a new process for quality management. (4) a process of adaptability to change and the different requirements posed by competitiveness is to be key and will require extensive group support. (5) training to enable employees to function within groups. (6) training, guiding and mentoring employees in conflict management and problem solving. Executives at Moonlight Auto feel that, on the basis of their beliefs and plan, absenteeism should be reduced, quality improved and greater profitability realized. Although Sunshine Holdings is providing financing, they still wonder about the feasibility of the plan.
