Using artificial intelligence to spot breast cancer
The article is about the development of a cheaper using screening software that will find early detection of breast cancer by a company in India. It's not as effective as getting a mammogram, but it is a cheaper option that could spot cancer early on. This would benefit those who aren't able to get a mammogram. I find this article to be both emerging and controversial.
This article was very brief, but the title caught my eye immediately. Being as though I recently lost a family member due to stage four lung cancer, anything that could be used technology-wise to assist in the treatment of cancer would pique my interest. I know how costly treatment can be, and with this type of technology, we could possibly prevent the progression of cancer early on to avoid expensive, long-term treatment.
There are some things I would want to address before getting too excited. They use thermal imaging to make a detection. As the imaging isn't as effective, people might be worried about getting false information from these tests. Personally, I would want to know the accuracy beforehand. Will the tests be able to determine the level of cancer, if any at all? I'm intrigued to see where it goes through.
