In this section, we learned about the eight cultural variables: human nature, time, action, communication, space, power, individualism/collectivism, and competitiveness/cooperativeness. These major variables offer a simple frame of reference for examining culture and understanding its major characteristics.

The Discussion

1. What culture do believe you are apart of?

2. Use each of the eight cultural variables and explain the culture you mentioned above. An example would be helpful for each. For example: many Asian cultures are collective in their thinking. They believe that the group is more important than the individual so they work more closely as a team than just for themselves.
