My favorite chapters were about parenting and gendered household labor. I like the parenting chapters because it has helped me have a different outlook on the benefits of a two-parent household. I grew up with a single mother, and now I am single. It does put a strain on the parent and children. Even though there are positives to being in a single-parent home, families thrive better in a two-parent environment. I liked learning about the different types of parenting styles. I had never known the politically correct terminology for parenting styles, but it was informative to learn about them. My mother was a mix of authoritarian and authoritative parenting styles. Like her, I have adapted the same type of parenting for my child.

In addition to the parenting chapters, I enjoyed learning about the division of household work. Growing up, it was only one gender in my home; therefore, my household work consisted of me doing everything around the house. Now that I have a child who is a boy, I make sure he does chores both within and outside of gender. The book mentions how housework is usually divided up between gender or the person who makes the most money.
