What did you learn about measuring effectiveness of human service programs and service delivery? Explain your responses. The main idea around the article by James Mensing (2017) is outcomes and how measuring these outcomes is not so much about how human service organizations effectively work with clients but rather it is driven by funders, policy makers, and politicians. The outcome views vary therefore the results will vary due to those various views ultimately impacting the effectiveness of the programs. This diversity creates challenges in measuring effectiveness which complicates measuring the effectiveness of the impact of services (Mensing, 2017). Based on the article, what are some areas that you will need to do further research on to get a better understanding of measuring outcomes? One area that I will need to do more research on cost effective analysis and long-term efficiency. Researching how to utilize cost effective analysis and what tactics help to return the most for the investment nonprofits can benefit greatly. Researching long-term efficiency can help to highlight disadvantages that may arise and how improvements can be made as well as the long-term advantages.
