The main idea of the article by James Mensing (2017) is outcomes and how measuring these outcomes is not so much about how human service organizations effectively work with clients but rather funders, policymakers, and politicians drive it. The outcome views vary therefore the results will vary due to those various views ultimately impacting the effectiveness of the programs. This diversity creates challenges in measuring effectiveness which complicates measuring the effectiveness of the impact of services (Mensing, 2017). One area that I will need to do more research on is cost-effective analysis and long-term efficiency. By researching how to utilize cost-effective analysis and what tactics help to return the most for the investment nonprofits can benefit greatly. Researching long-term efficiency can help highlight disadvantages that may arise, how improvements can be made, and the long-term advantages.
