You are a new Director of Health Information Management. As a new member of the leadership team of Coppin State University Hospital, what would you do during your first 90 days to assess the organization in order to be a successful leader in service of others? What would you assess? What political frameworks would you look for? How would you go about figuring out the land minds within the organization? Who in the organization will have information and knowledge to assist you functionally, operationally and managerially? What about your staff? What is the first thing you would do in the department relative to your staff? How would you go about determining how to be visible and demonstrate accountability within the current framework of the organization? Who would you directly report to you how would you go about developing relationships with other senior leaders to have an "informal" reporting structure to support your efforts? What functional and administrative materials, people, departments, systems and/or vendors would you assess as part of your initial assessment of Coppin State University Hospital in order for you to be the most successful leader in the organization?

Prepare an APA format paper (2-3 pages) outlining your assessment PLAN to include all steps and activities you would engage in to properly and adequately assess your organization as the new HIM Director. Please do not forget about your staff and the contributions your department makes to the organization and how that may or may not be currently aligned with the strategic goals of the organization. Please also do not forget about materials you might want to review and have on hand as the newest member of the leadership team; both internal and external materials as references.
