Question

One Florida law is about federal immigration enforcement. This law makes sanctuary policies for immigrants illegal. It requires state officials to help federal officials enforce immigration laws. However, this law was ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge. The judge ruled that the law would cause discrimination against groups of people. There was also no evidence the law would lower crime. How did interpretation of the principles of the US Constitution affect immigration policy in Florida? The Constitution requires sanctuary policies for immigrants. The Constitution prohibits discrimination based on race. The Constitution requires that lawmakers show evidence that a policy will be effective. The Constitution prohibits states from involvement in immigration enforcement.
