Assignment:

Over 150 high school students requested information about early childhood teaching at the College's Career Fair last year. The majority knew very little about working in an infant/toddler/preschool/VPK setting.

People interested in working in the field benefit from having a mentor. Mentors can guide those just starting. Whether it be training requirements, how to find a job, working in a classroom for the first time, interacting with family members, etc. (a 100 other things), it is very helpful to have someone to speak with who has experience.

What would have helped you when you were just starting?

What are 2 or more things that you would share with someone who knows very little about the field but who is interested in teaching? What insights could you provide? Choose from any number of topics related to working in child care (for example, training, finding employment, working in a childcare setting, working with parents, etc.).
