Question

In clinical practice one of the first things I notice about clients is their ability to join me in the dialogue. If clients are closed off emotionally, mentally, or physically I question it. It usually signals a thread of distrust or mistrust. If I cannot connect with them, we deal with that. If not, I reexamine to see if this working alliance is a good fit for both. This will only widen as we continue to do the work. Could this be reluctance or resistance? What are your thoughts about this approach to working with clients and reluctance/resistance?
