Question

An eight-year-old child is brought into the clinic by her mother. Each year in the spring, the child develops a runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. She was treated in the past with diphenhydramine. But her teacher said it made her drowsy during school. She has no other medical problems and is not on any chronic medications. Her physical examination is unremarkable. The physician diagnoses her with seasonal allergic rhinitis and prescribes fexofenadine. What instructions would the nurse give to the child's mother about administering the fexofenadine.
