"Identify-to-reject": A specific strategy to avoid false memories in the DRM paradigm by Paula Carneiro, Angel Fernandez, Emiliano Diez,  Leonel Garcia-Marques,  Tânia Ramos, Mário B. Ferreira

False memories and the DRM paradigm: effects of imagery, list, and test type by Merrin Creath Oliver, Rebecca Brooke Bays, and Karen M. Zabrucky

Abstract

On this page, you write the abstract. The abstract is a brief, comprehensive summary of the contents of your paper. Note that the first line of the abstract is not indented. It should be between 150 and 250 words. These words are NOT included in your overall word limit. The abstract should include the aim of your study, the method, your results, and a brief discussion of the implication of your results.

Repeat
The introduction of your lab report should contextualise the research problem. Start with an opening paragraph that introduces the reader to the topic and grabs their attention. Give some real-world examples and highlight the importance of studying the topic.

Note that the first line of each paragraph is indented. Describe the background literature in the body of the introduction: what have previous researchers done? Why did they do it and what did they find? How did they explain their results? Make sure that there is a clear connection between the past research and your current study. What was the reason for doing your study?

In the final paragraph, you should tell the reader the aim of your study and your hypothesis. Rule of thumb - your Introduction should take up just under 1/3 of your word count

Participants
Describe your sample characteristics, such as sample size and how it was recruited.

Materials and Procedure
Write a description of how you conducted your study as concisely but as clearly as you can. Remember that the information you provide in the Method section should be sufficient to allow someone else to replicate your study.

The results section describes your findings. Provide the reader with the descriptive statistics and the inferential statistics . Make a comment about which group performed better or worse than the other.

Discussion
In the Discussion section, it is a good idea to briefly restate the aim of the study then state the hypothesis and whether or not it was supported. In the following paragraphs discuss your main findings within the context of the broader literature (i.e., how the results ‘fit' with the literature discussed in the Introduction). Provide a theoretical explanation for your results. You also need to identify weaknesses (limitations) in your study. Provide directions for future research that stem directly from the results of your study. Finish with a statement summarising the contribution of your study to the literature.
