Question 1) A shunt machine has armature and field resistance of 0.04 ohm and 100 ohm respectively. When connected to a 460 V d.c. supply and driven as a generator at 600 rev/min, it delivers 50 kW. Calculate its speed when running as a motor and taking 50 kW from the same supply.

Question 2) A shunt motor, connected across a 440 V supply, takes an armature current of 20 A and runs at 500 r/min. The armature circuit has a resistance of 0.6 ohms. If the magnetic flux is reduced by 30 % and the torque developed by the armature increases by 40% , determine the value of armature current, and speed.
