A piston-cylinder device, connected to a feeding line by a valve, contains air at 7oC and 210 kPa. Initially, a linear spring with a spring constant of 670 N/m is merely attached to an 24-cm diameter piston which rests on two stops with a volume of 14 L. The valve is opened and a fresh air at -3oC enters the cylinder. It is known that the lift pressure for the piston is 290 kPa. The valve is closed when the cylinder volume increases by 92% and the temperature reaches 42oC. Assume variable specific heats.

(a) Determine the heat transfer during this process.

(b) Show the process on a P-Vdiagram.
