A n experiment to extract an acidic and neutral compound from an unknown compound. The compound is dissolved in diethyl ether and transferred to a separatory funnel. The NaOH (aq) is then added to the separatory funnel and the salt of the acid is drained. In the initial stage of the separation, you accidentally added 6 M NaOH(aq) to the separatory funnel instead of 3 M NaOH(aq). Does this ruin the experiment? What is one potential consequence of adding more concentrated NaOH to the separatory funnel?
