A flash drum is a vessel in which a liquid stream is heated until some of it is vaporized and the liquid and vapor phases reach equilibrium and are removed as products. A mixture of 40 mole% n-hexane (C6H14) and 60 mole% n-heptane (C7H16) is fed to a flash drum operating at 1520 mmHg pressure. The feed rate is 100 mol/s. In the flash drum the temperature is raised to 111 degrees Celsius, and vapor and liquid products are removed. Calculate the vapor and liquid flow rates and compositions.
