For purposes of this discussion board, you are asked to select and visit two retail stores in the U.S. in your area (Indiana). It would be best if you picked two outlets you feel are quite different in so far as the store “ image” (i.e., a high-end retailer and a value chain).
Your initial posting will likely consist of various paragraphs. Any outside sources that you use must be appropriately cited.
Your discussion should include:
The stores’ names and full street addresses.
A detailed description of the stores’ atmosphere – colors, materials used, types of displays, lighting fixtures, product displays, store personnel, and so on. In other words, what is the “personality” of each store?
Owners of retail stores often believe that “atmospherics” – i.e., getting people in the mood – makes them more likely to buy. Do you feel that the store atmospherics in each store would influence your purchase behavior? Why or why not?
