A cylinderical specimen made of annealed 4135 steel with K equal to 150,000 lb/in^2 and n equal to 0.27 has a diameter of 3 inches and 3 inches high. It is upset at room temperature by open-die forging with flat dies to a height of 2 inches. Assuming the coefficient of friction is 0.2, calculate the final diameter of the specimen after being forged? True strain in the forged specimen? Average pressure at end of stroke? Upsetting force required at the end of the stroke? If friction is neglected, what is the amount of upsetting force?
