Problem Statement and Review of the Literature

(2-3 pages, double-spaced, size 12 font)

Put the Problem Statement here. You were required to complete this for assignment # 2.

The Problem Statement is the background or context of the study.

Hypothesis

Put the hypothesis here. See example below.

Adults with a history of substance use disorders who receive cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) are more likely than those who receive psychoanalysis to show improvement in depressive symptoms.

Independent Variable = Treatment (CBT and Psychoanalysis)

Dependent Variable = Depression Score (which will be measured using a scale)

Specific Research Questions

Given that the hypothesis is usually a broad statement, it is necessary that we use specific questions to delimit or guide the study. These questions generally relate to sociodemographic factors (age, gender, marital status, ethnicity, level of education, etc.), which can also be potential confounding factors.

1. Does the level of depression vary by ethnicity?

2. Is there a statistically a significant difference between males and female with respect to level of depression?

3. Is there a statistically significant relationship between the age of the participants and the level of depression?

Please write 3-5 similar questions, based on your hypothesis and wider study context.

Theoretical or Conceptual Framework
(300- 350 words)

In this section you are required to describe and explain a psychological theory, model or concept that supports the hypothesis, and helps to explain the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. Note that at least 4 different peer-reviewed references are required for this section.
