A company will be only as effective as the driving force behind it. Establishing a vision is important for any organization as it sets a roadmap for success. A mission statement reflects the goals and purpose of a company. Without goals there is nothing to achieve. Having a plan is a good starting point for setting short term and long term goals.

Each goal should have a timeline. Time specific goals will measure the levels of achievement throughout a period of time. There are short term goals and long term goals. Long term goals are usually goals that will take about 2-5 years. Short term should support your long term goals and usually take around 6-12 months. A specific objective will describe what needs to be achieved. Discipline and determination is the most important part of any plan. Strategic planning involves analyzing threats, opportunities, weaknesses and strengths and determining what formula will most effectively work to achieve a particular goal. Organizing ideas and thoughts and figuring what environmental factors will contribute.
