Learning Outcome 1: Clearly outline the respective communication considerations to be made in varying business scenarios;

Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate the ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations and pitches to suit various business scenarios.

Create a well-reasoned plan for an effective business presentation (1,500 words) and present your plan for a professional audience

Being able to plan and execute a solid presentation is an important skill for most managers. For this assessment, you are required to present a coherent 1,500-word plan for a presentation, drawing on what you have learned from the course up to this point. Please include a reference list at the end of your plan.

Then, present your plan as a recorded 2 to 3-minute video. Use supporting documentation such as slide decks and images to engage your professional audience.

The scenario is:

You are the manager of a medium-sized firm (200 employees) which designs and manufactures premium laptop cases. Business is going well, and to the chagrin of your already busy employees, you have recently signed a contract with a big new client, which also entails having to extend your product line - you're going to launch a range of tablet cases.
To get your employees on board, you have arranged a presentation to be held in front of your entire business. How would you structure and finally deliver this presentation?

PROCESS
Leverage what you have learned about managerial communication and planning an effective presentation. The end product should be the presentation of a well-argued plan, which highlights key areas of concern given the context, and a presentation delivered from this plan.
To answer this brief, keep the following questions in mind:

• Which management approach is most appropriate and why?
• How do the three layers of the strategic model for management communication relate here?
• How do communication contingencies, such as diversity, drive for competitive advantage and ethical considerations impact?
• Which type of management communication do you think is most suited and why?
• What role does communication with technology play in this scenario, and why?
• How have you considered bandwidth, feedback, perceived personal closeness and symbolism in your communication methods?
• How would you measure your presentation's success?

Suggested Structure:

1. Introduction (150 words)
Include business context and highlight main arguments;

2. Preparation of presentation (600 words)
Display how managerial communication theory from Chapters 1-6 has been considered;

3. Delivery of presentation (600 words)
Consider practicalities of delivery of presentations such as chosen method, venue and setting, audience, timeframe, technological requirements and risk measures. Link back to preparation;

4. Conclusion (150 words)
Clear and concise conclusions, clarifying arguments and optimising overall outcome.
