Assessment Task - Critical Analysis
Task: The task is to write a critical essay in order to demonstrate an understanding of core concepts in Communicating Difference and to develop skills in academic reading and writing. Choose one Australian (ie about or involving Australia) media item as a case study, critically discuss how at least three different scholars might analyse its relationship to social identities and difference. Case studies may include film, television, popular music, newsmedia and so on (please consult with your tutor if unsure about your case study).
This essay must demonstrate a critical understanding of three 'required' or 'further' readings from Weeks 1-5, which means exploring the key arguments in each reading, and identifying points of similarity and difference between them. In the tutorials and lecture, we will discuss possible examples and troubleshoot queries around this assessment.
