1. Employability Portfolio
As an individual, identify three job opportunities with different employers. Conduct research into one of the employers and their recruitment process and use what you find to tailor a covering letter and curriculum vitae that could be used to apply for the position.
a. Job Opportunities
As an individu al, identify three job opportunities with different employers, suitable for an industrial placement or new graduate in your field of study. Conduct research on one of the employers in preparation for making an application for the position.
You should inclu de a plain text copy of ea ch of the three job opportunities identified along with a summary of your research into the employer in your submission. Typical research might include: identifying the company's products, policies, mission statement, and core val ues; and should include preparation for their recruitment process and potential interview questions. Make sure to reference your sources when summarising your research.
b. Job Application
As an individual, prepare a one page covering letter and two page curriculum vitae applying to the position with the employer you researched. Annotate your covering letter and curriculum vitae to explain how you have used your research to tailor your application to the employer.
You should in clude your annotated covering letter and curriculum vitae in your submission. Make sure to spend time refining your application; recruiters receive a lot of applications and it is critical to make a good impression. Ensure you clearly explain how you have used the research to improve your application in your annotations.
2. Group Project
Your group will bring to a pre -prototype state a piece of software leveraging chatbot technology, based on the botkit.ai platform. The software should:
i) Provide an application or service in a market sector of your choice, which addresses the use case for your selected user personas;
ii) Use a web interface to interact with the user, augmented with ma chine to machine, real world sensor, voice, or natural language proc essing communication depending on your application.
iii) Be accompanied by engaging promotional material to advertise the product to best effect.
The best projects build on the skills you already have while challenging you to learn something new; they pro vide an opportunity to demonstrate a wide range of skills from the initial investigation of the problem to the delivery of a prototype solution.
a. Project Contribution
The group project is to be produced by all team members. In the early stages of the project, team members should be assigned tasks which will then be measured against completion on the project dashboard.
i. The product will be developed following the Sprint Product Development framework. This has five stages . Each stage should be documented by the team to comprise:
• team meeting records; • completed stage documentation; • project dashboard showing tasks and progress of tasks.
ii. Once the project is underway, ea ch team will be invited to giv e a presentation during one of the module's timetabled sessions. This presentation gives the team an opportunity to get feedback from the lecturer about their progress through the product development process.
b. Project Showcase
As an individual, prepare three pages showing off your work on the project. You should include: a page introducing the project and your final prototype; a page summarising your contribution to the project and the skills you have developed; and a one page project post mortem, which reflects on and evaluates the project.
