We usually have a traffic light designed to help pedestrians safely cross the road, the traffic light by default is green to give the way to cars. As soon as you reach the cross way and would like to cross the road to the other side, you have to press the boon on the traffic light so that it turns red (for a specific amount of time then turn green again) which will stop drivers on the way and gives pedestrians the way to safely crossing the road.
