1. Imagine you start a food truck business in Seattle called Comestible Happiness on Wheels (CHOW). You have a fleet of trucks.

a. Describe CHOW's business strategy and identify its strategic position. (In other words, begin by making an assumption about how CHOW is going to compete. This does NOT have to be about waffles.) Draw a figure which locates CHOW's strategic position on the productivity frontier. Explain why you located it there. (In Word, use simple drawing tools to do this. Go to Insert, then Shapes. "Line" and "Arc" should be all you need, as well as a "." or "x" to locate the company.)

b. Speculate as to the resources, capabilities, and competencies that the company would need in order to achieve a sustained competitive advantage.

c. Using the SECI model (knowledge spiral), describe a process of knowledge creation and transfer at CHOW, and how it could provide a source of competitive advantage.

d. Choose a key input that CHOW purchases from a supplier. Should it consider merging or acquiring this supplier, or establishing a strategic alliance with it? Why or why not?

e. Describe and explain an opportunity for horizontal integration OR an opportunity for horizontal diversification that might exist for CHOW.

f. Describe the organizational structure which would be most effective at executing your strategy. Would it be mechanistic or organic? Why?
