The store, Walmart is famous for its low prices. Walmart's past slogan Always Low Prices, Always and present slogan, Save Money, Live Better affirm the company's want and usual ability to sell products at a lower price than their competitors. One reason the company is able to sell products at prices lower than almost all other companies is due to Walmart's super-efficient supply chain. Its I.T. supply chain management system is the envy of many in the industry because it drives or eradicates excess time and unnecessary costs out of the supply chain. Thus, since Walmart can buy low it can sell low. As a matter of fact, if a company wants Walmart to carry and sell its product in its stores, the company must be ready to do business with Walmart electronically. Pretend you represent a company that wants Walmart to carry your product in their stores. Visit Walmart’s website Suppliers page and review the required steps, applications, training, research etcetera that you, as a potential future supplier, must complete for Walmart to consider selling your product in their stores. Summarize these findings in a one-page document. Specifically, in this summary, report upon the following:
1) List all the online steps, applications, training, research or other actions you (company) must complete online via Walmart's Suppliers page to do business with Walmart.
2) From a review of your list stated in Question 1, explain the competitive advantage this online strategy affords Walmart. If Walmart did away with this online strategy (e.g. allowed suppliers to start business transactions face-to-face rather than online), how do you think this would impact Walmart's ability to sell products at low prices? Explain.
