Zeroth Law:

When two objects A and B are in thermal equilibrium with a third object (C) separately, then they (i.e. A and B) are in thermal equilibrium mutually i.e.

         T_A = T_C  and  T_B = T_C => T_A = T_B        

Thus, the temperature of a body is the property, which calculates whether or not the system is in thermal equilibrium with other systems.

Temperature:

From Zeroth law we have seen that temperature is very useful value. Temperature is calculated by thermometer. Thermometer follows the zeroth law.

There are different kind's scales of temperature like Rankine scale, Celsius Scale, Fahrenheit Scale, Kelvin scale etc. This is the subject of thermometry.

Thermometery:

The temperature of a body is calculated indirectly by making use of the fact that certain physical property of a substance modifies linearly with the temperature

If the value of the thermometric property X varies linearly with temperature T, then selecting the simplest possible relationship T_(x) = aX + b

Where the constants b and a must be calculated. This linear scale seems that every interval of temperature corresponds to the similar change in the value of the thermometric property. To calculate a temperature on this scale two calibration points are select whose temperatures are described as T₁ and T₂ arbitrarily. The relative thermometric property X₁ and X₂ are calculated.

T₁ = aX₁ + b ;                T₂ = ax₂ + b

∴ T-T₂/T₂-T₁ = X_T-X₁/X₂-X₁ =  constant (equation of thermometry)
