The negation operator

A unary operator ('unary' means it has  only one argument) that you might wish to use  at some point is the negation operator. An example is as follows:

int a = 2;

int b = -a;

This has  the effect  of setting b to the value  -2. The single  argument for the negation operator appears to the right of the minus  sign.  We say  that this is a prefix operator, which simply means that it appears before the value  it takes as  an argument.

The compiler  is able  to distinguish the subtraction operator from the negation operator by the number of arguments it has.
