Separable and Common Costs
Costs that can be attributed to a product, a department, or a process are the separable costs and the rest are common costs. For example, in a multi product firm, raw material can be separated product wise. But the managerial cost is a common cost. The distinction between the two is also called as direct and indirect cost respectively.
