Packages:

Large programs are built up from a number of classes working together in concert. There is a program structure known as the
package, used to associate a number of classes that are closely related to one another. In other words, if classes form a cohesive group, they should be marked as belonging to the same package. For example, Java has a collection of classes named java.math, which contains two classes called BigDecimal and BigInteger. These two classes contain instance variables and methods for doing arithmetic with large numbers and having them in the same package is a useful way of grouping them.

If we wanted to make use of this package, we would add a statement to advise the Java system of this, by adding an import
statement at the beginning of our program. In this case we would say: 

import java.math.*;
public class User
{
// etc.

}

to indicate that we want to use all the classes in the java.math package within our class User.
