Commercial organizations have been making use of ICTs in order to bring out new and innovative products and services and satisfy the needs of their customers. TWINS was later renamed as eSeva to extend the program to the other towns and municipalities in the state. eSeva was the archetype service ever launched. It provided about 30 services belonging to the state as well as the central governments along with some provided by the private sector.
Through eSeva, citizens could pay their utility bills like electricity bills, property taxes, telephone bills, sales taxes, and water and sewerage bills online instead of waiting in long queues. The eSeva centers also issued (and renewed) birth and death certificates, caste and nativity certificates, encumbrance certificates, learners' licenses, driving licenses, vehicle registration certificates, etc. Other services provided by the eSeva centers included making reservations on the state public transport buses, downloading of application forms and Government Orders, and ATM and financial services. In January 2002, the AP government launched an integrated office network called .gov. This was an office management product that handled flow of work, document management, database management, knowledge management, groupware, etc. The main objective of launching this product was to transform the government offices into a paperless office, encourage inter and intra departmental collaboration, ensure good governance practices, and improve the quality of life of the citizens.
