GUI elements in Java:
The aim of this section is to examine some of the many visual components that you can place in containers. Section showed you how to place buttons into frames and panels. The other visual components that you will meet in this section are placed in exactly the same way as buttons.
A note on naming: there is a potential for confusion arising when dealing with Swing components. Swing components begin with J - for example, JButton, JCheckBox. However, there are components, such as Button and Checkbox, that belong to the older AWT library. We will be dealing exclusively with Swing components in this course and so whenever you see button, check box and so on, we are talking about the Swing concept of a button, a check box and so on, and not the AWT components.
