Example of Diodes and Transistors:

The Junction diodes are of a number of types. Important among them are:

(a)   Zener diode:  A zener  diode  is  particularly  designed  junction  diode  which  can  operate continuously without getting damaged in the region of reverse break down voltage shown in Figure 1.

(b)   Photo diode: The working of it is based on the electric conduction from light shown in Figure 2.

(c)   Light emitting diode (LED): The working is based on the production of light from the electric current.

LED the transistors are also of a number of types but most important among them are listed as follows:

(a)   Junction Transistors: These are of 2 types p-n-p and n-p-n and they are basic transistors which are used in electronic circuitry and other electronic equipment quite rapidly because of their low cost and high reliability.

(b)  Field effect transistors: In the present days most of electronic integrated circuits are using these kinds of transistors because they are highly conductive in nature and easy to prepare then junction transistor.
