  • "Research Article Critique1 Executive SummaryThe use of the newest day technology for learning is used by most of the educational institutes ofthe day. The research was conducted to find the variance in students learning, and long-termfrustration results in three different modes of teaching which consisted of Traditional Lecture,SSL and Virtual Learning (VLE). The results are achieved based on a 2-hour exercise where thesame subject was taught to the same group in three different modules. The VLE and SSL gavethe best results while the TL has an inferior result in the students’ learning achieved. However, the frustration of students, in the long run, is suggested to be more in the VLE models as theteacher is absent in such a case. The future studies based on online module is encouraged to theresearch provided there are significant check and balance put in place.2 Table of ContentsExecutive Summary ........................................................................................................................ 2Table of Contents ............................................................................................................................ 3Introduction ..................................................................................................................................... 4Problem ........................................................................................................................................... 4Literature review ............................................................................................................................. 5Hypothesis....................................................................................................................................... 7Method ............................................................................................................................................ 7Subject............................................................................................................................................. 8Instruments ...................................................................................................................................... 8Design and Procedure ..................................................................................................................... 9Results ............................................................................................................................................. 9Conclusions ................................................................................................................................... 11Recommendations ......................................................................................................................... 12References ..................................................................................................................................... 13 3 IntroductionThe education sectors have seen some massive inputs in the recent days where the technologyhas played a major part. The educators of modern day are investing a lot of effort to enable thesetechnological aspects in the learning. The effects of such technology on the post-secondary levelof education has been researched little to find the effects on learning. The research conducted isto investigate the issue where the technology compares the traditional lectures enabled lectures, slide show and virtual learning environment (VLE) (Choi, Lindquist and Song, 2014). Thenumber of online education courses, colleges those is performing the same, students perusingsuch studies are increasing in the modern day. The new day inputs and the benefits that thestudents draw of it are investigated. The case of the research shows the problem, literaturereview and hypothesis in the work which has been critically analyzed with the researchoutcomes. The essay would evaluate the research conducted with the results received from italong with methods and hypothesis that it brings forth in the process. The evaluation would givea justification of the findings and also recommend the best ways with which the research wouldhave yielded best results (Beaghan, 2013). ProblemThe problem statement suggests the problem of the research or the identified problem area whichhas led to this research. The researcher identified that the Microsoft power point or virtual lecturesessions are in the education sector however they have derived lesser results than traditionalcourses that have class room lecture formats in teaching. The traditional instructions have ahigher efficiency as it seems from an overview. The research problem is in here where it soughtto find out if the VLE and traditional lectures are similar when the students understanding andefficiency is concerned(Baker and Jeske, 2015). The tests in some cases shows that the VLEstudents are more competent in understanding the text being taught as they have answered betterthan students in traditional lecture format in some cases. Nevertheless, the previous results of theresearch conducted suggests that VLE students shows more of diminished interest, satisfaction, increased confusion and reduced level of satisfaction. Thus the research conducts a survey tofind out and compare how the traditional lecture (TL), Virtual lecture (VLE) and Slide Show4 Supplemented (SSL) results are effective in among the college students to produce greateramount of consumer satisfaction(Chang and Chen, 2011). The literature review finds out what other various researcher has to say about the subject. Hencethe research conducted with the problem statement of how students reacts to the process ofstudies and the educational tasks set in TL, SSL and VLE. The student’s frustration in this phasewas considered to be lowest in TL, higher in SSL and highest in VLE(Educational change: fromtraditional education to learning communities, 2011). Literature reviewThe literature in the present do not have much to offer when the effectivity of the Slide showlectures with traditional lectures. Further any review of how SSL and VLE can be compared inthe pedagogical effects view was also not there in the previously done jobs. Hence the research iskey to find out how effective VLE to SSL is in terms of educational efficiency. The importanceof technology use in each sphere of our daily life is increasing. The education sector is nodifferent. The e-learning is a discipline which the educational sectors are taking into the forayand the effectivity is being discussed and challenged many times in various forms. The testsconducted in various economies and cultures may have different bearing depending on thetechnological inputs that it has taken in. the use of computers and electronic books are capturingthe traditional educational fields fast. The medium that may have been previously used, that isvirtual lectures which were pre-recorded and played to the students has come a long way. Theprevious per-recorded lectures where students has no option to ask a question is now deletedwith the increased internet speeds, globally(Learning Native wisdom: what traditional culturesteach us about subsistence, sustainability, and spirituality, 2009). The freedom of navigation, accessibility, connectivity of e-learning is significant. The studentsthus gets a global perspective where the navigational accessibility has changes the way thebusiness behaves. The images for the students who wish to have a glance of the subjects taughtmay have it instantly via web media which is not possible in traditional lectures. The educationsectors are thus increasing the integration of electronic education with classroom problemsolving session to get the best of both and enhance the student’s learning quality. The modern5 day researchers are finding the different learning and management subjects as an open sourcesystem with interactive digital tools. The development too in this sphere is increasing and thenew generation of educators and students are reaping the benefits. In the past Grimes hasconducted a study on “Students perception of an online dental terminology course” which wasconducted to find out the experience of the students of online courses. The study researched onconvenience, technical issues, sense of belongingness and learning style in the online educationin the research to evaluate the student’s perceptions. The conclusion was that the web basedlearning provides additional resource to the students and is considered more useful by thestudents on whom the survey was conducted(Myers et al., 2014). The other very important aspect that the research therein gives is the cost effectivity and reach ofthe university in various locations via e-learning modules were great. It concludes that web- based learning is beneficial for students and for the colleges it is cost effective since it can reacha wide distance via e-learning media to places where the university is yet to build aninfrastructure. The technological issues like band width, connectivity, reach are all wellintegrated in the modern day module of education. It is obviously better than video conferencingmodules of yesteryears. The connectivity problems or the technical hinges that the modern dayeducation faces are far more adaptable since the class can be rescheduled if the connectivity is anissue. This as per the research do not pose a big threat to the students learning or even interferewith their abilities. Hence the Clark’s derivation is that the technical problems do not have amajor bearing on the class output or student performance. In the contrary it points out to thedelivery of education in various fields which are best supported by online learning module overtraditional learning courses. Nevertheless, development of such a module needs the participationof various course instructors and professors who are knowledgeable about various multimediafacilities to enhance the quality of delivery in the online media(Levintova and Mueller, 2014). The studies conducted by previous researchers’ shows the skill and knowledge developmentgained by students via online education is better learned and retrieved. However, the quality ofthe slides presented during the class is to be kept in mind as it too plays a major role indevelopment of cognitive thinking. The measurement of student’s satisfaction in the onlinemodule is compared with the traditional course delivery module where the students feels morecomfortable in traditional lecture style in some cases. The case of computer literacy is also6 important for the student’s satisfaction generation. This may be a factor for the greatersatisfaction in the traditional lecture class. Thus to be able to derive the best of VLE and SSL thecomputer literacy among the students and teachers are to be more. It is also to be notes thebehavior of the students plays a major part where the introvert students prefers to be more onlineeducation where they are placed in the class alone than while the others. The feasibility of onlinecourses are many in many different fields which has produced varied results from time to time. The future is also bright for the online VLEs which is predicted to dominate the future times ineducation sector(Still and Still, 2015). The literature review however do not consider the students levels of interest in previous researchabout VTL, SSL and TL investigations. Hence the answers of the proposed Literature review isunclear in determining whether the problems of investigation are been well researched fromdifferent sources. HypothesisThe hypothesis derived from the research is that the traditional courses may be effective for avariety of reasons but the future of SSL, VLE is strong too. The issues of connectivity andcomputer literacy may be a problem as of now but would definitely be resolved in the times tocome. Again, the online lecture takes the subject and the participation into a wide area which isbeneficial for the students in global context who receives similar education in the similar levels. The research is conducted based on the hypothesis that TL generates more interest amongstudents and the SSL and VTE conditions gives rise to student frustration(Hassan, Abiddin andYew, 2014). MethodThe method taken in the research have major size and characters defined for the population whoare being interviewed for the research. The methodology is qualitative research conducted uponthe students which gives the results for the research analysis and result(Jacobs, 2010). 7 "
