Thepurpose of the study in this report is to understand how supply chains can enhance theperformance of the firms through better coordination and collaboration amongst several of itsparticipants. For the past couple of decades, since the economies of the world have startedopening up, the organizations have looked majorly at maximizing the speed of the processes oftheir business and at the same time trying to minimize the costs associated with the products.They have tried to do so by focusing on their supply chains and trying to make it more efficient.However even more effort is required from the firm’s perspective to bring in more cooperationamongst the various members and a broader way of looking at the entire process. Companiesmust look to find out newer and better ways to add value to their supply chains and not justmerely look at these supply chains as a way of cutting costs. Rather it should be a combination oflower costs, better quality and flexibility in the processes at the same time that should be thefocus of any of these systems of supply chain (Shariff, Irani, 2012, p. 57-68). The majorassumption and belief of this report is that the firms that build the 3 Cs theories with propercooperation amongst all its participants will be able to give superior value to the customers in thelong run and hence become successful also. This contention is also supported by examples ofmany different firms who have followed this approach in the past and have become verysuccessful as a result.Strategic cooperation, coordination and collaboration (the 3C’s) approachesare thus being implemented in all the top organizations in the world as they realize the effect ofusing the supply chain management systems to their maximum effect and get the best benefit outof them.Supply chain management is defined as the planning and coordination of the materials flowingfrom one source as a complete systematic integrated bundle rather than flowing as independentactivities that used to be the case very often in the past. The goal of this entire exercise of supplychain management is to create a link between the market, distribution channels, manufacturingand sourcing activity in such a way so as to provide greater service levels and ease of use to the2 end consumer. At the same providing the end consumer with the efficiency of cost advantage. Sothe basic point of the entire exercise was to achieve the organizational goals of greatercompetitive advantage through reducing costs and higher service levels (Pilbeam, Alvarex,Wilson, p. 358-376).Supply Chain: Analysis & DiscussionsModern Supply Chain : Cause & EffectModern supply chain system strategies mostly used to arise from the theories and the concepts ofthe Japanese approaches to supply chain as a subject. Their main focus used to be on creatinggreater relationships on supply chain exercise and collaborating through maximum supply chainperformance at reduced costs. This was vastly different from the previous approaches those werefollowed before this that seemed to only reduce costs as their only goal without focusing on theprocesses for the same. Therefore the major change that this theory brought in the entire conceptof the study of supply chain management was the importance of the idea of cooperation amongstthe different entities of the entire supply chain channel. Companies realized that by givingimportance to cooperation amongst all the processes, they would be achieving the dual benefitsof attaining a competitive advantage and at the same time reducing costs as well. Manyorganizations have tried to integrate the concepts of supply chain management in their operationsin order to bring more efficiency in their systems and reduce the costs at the same time. Howeverjust the presence of a supply chain management system is not going to be enough for thesecompanies. They would require a combined collaborative effort from all the stake holders in theentire system to add value to the end consumer (Meehan, Wright, 2012, p. 669-679).A new concept of strategic based sharing is being implemented in many organizations throughthe use of internet based technologies. The companies and their various entities can collaborateand cooperate with each other using the internet technology and take immediate business3 "
