Her family has a long history of food preparation, and still operates a bakery and restaurant in her home town of Kathmandu. There they focus on healthy vegetarian food and produce much of the supplies at their own farm in the foothills of the Himalayas.\r\nShirishaaims to build the Toowoomba International Catering College in Toowoomba. This will involve getting finance, finding a suitable site to lease and operate from, getting approval from local authorities for establishing and operating the site, developing a proposal for government accreditation, marketing and recruiting students.\r\nOne of Shirisha’s challenges will be getting a Student Management System. She expects this will be a web-based student enrolment system for use by students, teachers, and administration. It will allow students to apply to enrol and select courses, process enrolments, manage class lists, pass information to the billing system (Xero) and the Learning Management System (Moodle) and produce reports. Shirisha is keen for the SMS to be available as soon as possible but is aware of the importance of it being a quality on-line “shop-front” to create positive first impressions with potential students and their families. \r\nToowoomba International Catering Collegeplans to contract out their software development projects and not have their own software development department. After several interviews with various software development companies Shirisha has engaged your company Technology Consulting to help.\r\nPersonnel\r\nThe Toowoomba International Catering College management team is composed of the following people:\r\n●\tThe Managing Director(Shirisha) – the driving force behind the project and the project sponsor and funder. TICC’s current requirement is a Student Management System whichis a web-basedstudent enrolment system for use by students, teachers, and administration. It will allow students toapply to enrol and select courses, process enrolments, manage class lists, pass information to thebilling system (Xero) and the Learning Management System (Moodle) and produce reports. The methodology followed to build this portal is Waterfall. The project goes in 3 different phaseswith Phase 1 being for student access, Phase 2 for Teacher and Phase 3 for admin, followed by anoverall integration. The project follows a proper Software Development Lifecycle. The list ofactivities and the timeliness are indicated in the Journal. Once the project goes live, PointTechnology will offer training and support services to TICC.The architecture of this project is pretty simple. Microsoft Office Sharepoint is used for theimplementation. The reason behind choosing sharepoint is its unique way of handling data in theform of lists and repository for the document storage. Sharepoint is collaborated with Xero (Billingsystem) and Moodle (Knowledge Management system). The Sharepoint lists maintain all thenecessary information of students. There are 3 types of users for this portal: the student, the faculty and the admin. The activity flow ofthis portal follows student registering for TICC with all his details. The student can opt for amaximum of 6 subjects. To change the subject, the student needs to request for change to theadmin. The student can view the course outline through the Class list-> Course details. The relevantstudy/ preparation materials through Moodle under the respective subject and according to theaccess privileges. Through billing system, the student can view the total fees, where the data getsauto-populated from the student details. The teacher will be able to edit the course outline through the Edit option. The teacher edits thecourse and then it goes to admin for approval. The teacher can edit column names/ values studentnames in the Student Assessment on Classroom tab. However, attendance is auto-populated.The admin has all the privileges from creating, modifying and deleting the data from all the featuresand the users. To sum up, Waterfall methodology was used in the project due to the quite well-known features ofthis portal and similar portals already present in the market. This involved very-less customizationwhich was communicated by the client at the very early stages of the project. Hence, it was simpleto break-down the requirements and explain it to the Offshore team(Development and TestingTeam).Journal:The task list below explains the entire phases of the project, the activities that were planned andcompleted and the timeliness. These timeliness were set initially at the Planning phase of the projectand was followed accordingly.Activity Summary Actions Actions Start dateEnd datePlanned Completednd rd Requirements The business analyst Set up a All the 2 March3 March Gathering team at Point conference requirementsTechnology with the are gatheredconsulting gathers client to andall the requirements understand communicatedfrom the client. requirements to the BAteamth th Requirement The Business A list of All the 6 March10Analysis Analyst team requirements feasibility is March analyses all the noted on the being checkedrequirements of broader and a report isToowoomba perspective prepared. schooland comes to and analysisaconsensus by on thechecking the feasibility offeasibility of the theseresources available requirements.at Point TechnologyConsultingth th Requirements The list of A product Product 13 17document/ requirements with backlog Backlog MarchMarch Product all the details/ use document documentBacklog cases prepared for with the list created andthe understanding of all the sent to theof development, requirements developmentdesign and testing and use cases and testingteams. teams.th th Design of Create a mockup/ Wireframes Wireframe of 13 17Wireframes sample screens to of all the Welcome MarchMarch show how the portal screens to be screen and theshould look like. designed. studentenrolmentscreen is givento the dev andtesting team.th th Design of a The project All the Schedules, 20 24project plan/ manager creates a necessary deliverables, MarchMarch Work detailed project action items stakeholders,Management plan on executing required for continuityplan these requirements the plan to be plan, risks aregiven by the BA noted. noted in theteam. planth st DevelopmentOnly the The register Done only for 27 31Phase 1: functionalities module, class the student MarchMarch (student login) relevant to student list, billing, login.
