Shane Co.deliberately adopted the SAP for improving its inventory management, logistics function andfinancial planning. The report delves into the risk management framework for illustratingdifferent approaches and strategies that Shane Co adopted. It was found out that the fundamental problem in SAP implementation is the anticipation of riskand failures which Shane Co. was unable to understand and therefore attributed the failure toadverse economic conditions. Shane Co. was unable to properly assess the risk environmentbecause it mainly focused on the vision but not on the updates of policies, procedures andmethods to achieve the outcomes. The lack of consistency, proper planning, management andsupport partially resulted in implementation failure. Therefore, the right procurement strategy should accompany the right procurement planning inorder to implement a highly advanced system. The results indicated that risk management andprocurement management are the two important facets in project management and should beemphasised strongly in order to achieve better results.
