Areas were selected irrespective of population size? Small sample size: The sample covered is not large enough due to timeconstraint.? Convenience sampling: Both these areas have been chosen mainly becauseof the convenience in visiting and collecting the data.The survey analysis will firstly present the general information of respondentscovering their educational status, marital status, living arrangement, ownership ofhouses etc. This will be followed with their experience of Elder abuse and itscauses. Further detailed results of survey will be viewed for those who haveexperienced the same. 37 CHAPTER 4REPORT FINDINGS AND DATA ANALYSIS1. Age [Chart 13 (a) & (b)]In our survey, 71.43%, 21.43% and 7.15%of the total elder population wereinterviewdin the age group of 60-70, 71-80 and 81 & above respectivelyin theurban areas ofDelhi while on the other hand, the corresponding figure for ruralareas ofDelhi was 57.14%, 35.71% and around 7%. 38 2.Marital Status[Chart 14 (a) & (b)]The marital status graph shows a major contrast in rural and urban areas of Delhias it can be seen that there are no single and divorced elderly in rural areas ofDelhi. This reflects the fact that the notions of single and divorced were not somuch prevalent in the rural areas. Again the percentage of widow/widower in ruralareas was much higher i.e. around 42% as compared to the same in urbancounterparts i.e. around 29%. Also the percentage of married elderly women inurban areas was slightly lesser (50%) in contrast to rural areas (57%).39 "
