  • "feasible to use low commitment policies but for companies working in a tricky and stressfulenvironment there is need for high commitment policies as lot of funds are attached to them.Toyota motors is a pioneering automobile company that has its centers all around the globeand dozens of manufactures, design centers and circulation centers. Their vision is to carveout a clear path of being the leader and leading manufacturer of automobiles in the world. Ithas a very diverse set of employees around the world and needs high commitment policies.7 Task 22.1 Explain how a model of flexibility might be applied in Toyota Motor Corporation.Flexibility refers to how the model of HRM helps the organization to adjust and position theskills of its personnel’s such that they can match up to the skills required by the ever- changing workload and production techniques. HRM can always innovate and redesign anyjob in order to make it flexible enough that it is comfortable and make it less pressurizing.Like flexibility in working hours, shifts, retirement and duration, location, sharing of thework and much more.(Gurchiek 2009)As we all know workforce flexibility will help in increasing the job satisfaction level ofemployees and through this their overall productivity. It also helps the company to reach highstandards and set high and strict bars for maintaining the culture of diversity and tolerance. The kind of flexibility that can be used by the HRM policies of any organization or anyindividual department depends on the nature of the job. The HRM department as well as theHR is responsible to make sure that there is tolerant level of alternate work schedules. The company can also decide to hire on demand employees and pay them according to theamount of work done by them. Their performance should be evaluated properly and theyshould be trained well.In case of Toyota Motor, it is necessary that recruitment and training programs are doneproperly as it is one of the leading manufacturers and needs amazingly skilled and dedicatedwork staff rather than just random recruits. Their work requires a lot of hard work, so itbecomes necessary to provide equal flexibility to them so that the work pressure doesn’t takea toll on the performance of their employees.2.2 Discuss the types of flexibility which may be developed by your organization. In case of Tata Motors, we can say that their HRM policies need to have functional flexibilitythat is they need their employees to work and go beyond what they are ought to do. Thishelps the organization to train their employees in such a way that they are multi-faceted andcan do more than one job. It also needs to have financial flexibility being an organizationfunctioning on a large scale. There also needs to have skill flexibility that is the organizationneeds to involvepersonnel with multi-dimensional talents. (Leuven, 2017)2.3 Assess the use of flexible working practices from both the employee and theemployer perspective. The addition of flexible work policies allows the staffers to set their own work scheduleswhich help them to in prioritizing their work and fulfill their personal priorities andcommitments. Every person in the group is made to be feel like being part of the team not asdifferent assets so that they always think as team not as individuals when it comes to crisis8 and problems. Due to this organizations have also been able to hire a large variety ofemployees from varied backgrounds. They have also been able to hire and bring intoworkforce many groups of workforces like stay at home parents, disabled professionals andeven military spouses. It also helps the company to reduce its overhead costs as there is lessexpense on buildings, travelling and less supplies. Satisfied employees work harder and moreefficiently increasing firms output at low cost. (Sutton, 2013)2.4 Discuss the impact that changes in the labor market have had on flexible workingpractices. The work schedules have started to move from traditional 9-5 to flexible work hours. Thesechanges have been created due to the need for balancing the work life environment so thatemployees are fully satisfied and there is retention of more employees. Quits, jobrotationsand layoff are used to measure job satisfaction of employees.Organizations now-a-days arerequired to consider the demand and supply factors regarding their labor and this has led tomore of non-standard jobs. From the viewpoint of the employer these flexible work arrangement leads to increasedcompetitiveness among their employees. There is less cases of absenteeism and turnover. Theflexibility it provides also leads to improved performance by the employees. Flexiblearrangements also provide its employees with more control and independence over their liveswhich reduce work stress. It also helps in building up an employee’s morale. But this alsohas its own disadvantages like increased overhead costs. (Craig, 2010)9 "
