"American labor movementNameCourseDateDescribe the onset of the American labor movement, and explain how it relates to thegrowth of national unionsBetween 1860 and 1910, the United States population tripled and so did the industrial workforce.New types of commercial enterprises sprung up to stand along the pre-civil textile factories. The first agency that acted as a federation to encompass American Unions was the national laborunions that came into force after the civil war, but it was short-lived ("The Early LaborMovement," 2003). The biggest union at the time was the Order of the Knights of St. Crispin,and it represented the shoe industry. It attempted to stop the rising trends for the unskilledproduction line that looked set in replacing the master cobblers. The ethos of Knights was theinclusion of anyone involved in the production that helped its numbers to increase. The labormovement became a real force to be reckoned after the advent of the American Federation ofLabor. The onset of the American labor unions relates to the growth of National unions because hadthere not been a strike by Journeymen tailors over wage reduction in New York; there would beno national unions ("American Labor Movement," 2017). This is because the National Unionswere formed following the issues which affected the workers.
