I believe acareer in academics has provided me with a unique opportunity to contribute to thetransformation of engineering education in India and shape it for the better future of Indianlearners. My vision is to instrument Outcome Based Education for millennial learners whichshould be reinforced by an inclination towards project based learning and supporting life-longlearning attribute of learning teaching process. This will allow the learners to connect the coursecontent with real life situations and also motivate them to solve real societal issues and problems,which in turn will make them more employable in Information Technology Industries. My responsibility as a teacher is to function as a facilitator in the learning process, ratherthan the ordinary deliverer of information. Being a facilitator my prime responsibility is to haveanemphasis on Knowledge, Skill, and Attitude (KSA) components of learning for my learners. Ithas been my experience that technological knowledge is best learned through a combination ofmemorization, recall, and active learning. It may be Auditory, Visual or Kinesthetic (hands-on)(AVK), learners respond very well to a variety of teaching methods.I use techniques in my1 classes which include lectures with visual aids, demonstrations, step-by-step hands-on exercises,discussions, and projects. These teaching techniques allow learners to practice the majority ofKSA components and encourage the practice of lifelong learning. With this in mind, contentdelivery for my course will be planned in chunks that will focus on KSA attributes and maintainthe accountability of KSA my learners are learning with every instruction. I am already practicing a lot of innovative methods to impart knowledge, technical skillsand attitude in my learners. Over a period of time, I have developed a course website, videos,web-based handouts, creative lab assignments, project ideas and many more strategies that canprove to be very effective for establishing a connection with my learners and make myselftransparent to them. I believe the plan is working successfully so far, but there should always bea scope for improvement. I am looking forward to contributing more with my expertise in thefield of computer networks by creating a web-blog which shall remain available for the wholeworld and people from any community can get benefited by sharing their knowledge over thatplatform.Teaching is both an art and science that requires artistic skills to impart knowledge intoday’s learners. So a teacher is one who has to understand the science of learning and applyartistic skills on it to transform today’s learners into future engineers. A good teacher in not theone who only transmits information and promotes teacher-centered learning to earn grades, but agood teacher is the one who is passionate about sharing his knowledge and promotes creativethinking ability, analytical problem solving and prepare learners to solve complex problems ofthe society. Learning-Teaching is a continuous process for an individual and we learn at everystage of life. For being skill ful artist and a good educator I am working to develop my skills ofdesigning my course content and course delivery keeping in mind the millennial learners.2 Planning is the core of learning-teaching process and I am looking to get expertise in thedevelopment of concrete course delivery plan to support me in implementing the cognitivetheory of learning. As a researcher in Information Technology and a teacher at the college level, it is myresponsibility to discover new knowledge and use research results to enhance the learningexperience. That certainly will help me in designing effective course content and motivates mystudents to connect the knowledge with the real world.I believe as a teacher I must understand who my learners are, and know what theirexpectations from the course are. I always have a strong desire to increase course transparencyand my availability to the learners. I always look forward to improving my skills as an educatorbecause it is the need of an hour. In this view, I am working on my course material; I try to bringin some innovative way to deliver my course content to present it in an interesting way and in aninteractive environment. For this, I believe that use of computer-based technology like LMS,videos, images, the internet, power point presentation are best suitable along with traditionallectures, laboratory assignments, and even assessments. To improve my skills I have designed acourse website for my course and plan activities for my every instruction, along with this tomake my instruction more interactive and interesting for my students I make use of activitybased learning techniques.To summarize, my teaching philosophy, my immediate plans for achieving my goals areto learn and practice activity based learning in my class. I want to expose the students to as manyrealistic experiences as possible. I am also engaging myself in industry interaction and plan 1-2visits each semester for my students to get the exposure to real working scenarios. My long term3 plans are to design a certification course on Network Security and to conduct that course onlinefor my learners using my course website. I wish to create videos for my learners and to makemyself available 24 hours for their support hence, making my course interactive. I also want toencourage the practice of lifelong learning by focusing on project-based learning. 4 "
