So many studies have been conducted over the years into the possible linksbetween soft drink intake and medical problems, however, remain highly contested. Yet theresult, emphasis is standing on the health properties of soft drinks, by both the industry andthe consumers, for example, in the expanding area of functional drinks. Consumers trust andbelieve that soft drinks which they buy are safe and their quality is best. They also think thatthe information given at the back can help them to make decisions about the purchase ofproducts and the label is not false or misleading. The aim of this extended essay is to evaluate the acidity content in different soft drinks andtheir damage and bad effects on the human body. It has to be taken the review of the past aswell as current status of what are being used in it and how are they affecting humans. Softdrinks are consumed highly in most of the countries now and thus it is very important toknow it affect on our body. However, the high demand may compromise the quality ofproduction with possible contamination of acids which have shown to cause intoxication anddeath in humans. This study evaluated some constituents of soft drinks and investigated thepresence of some acids. The soft drinks were screened and were acidic in nature, pH rangingfrom 3 to 5 with a mean of 3.6 and the acid concentration was relatively low between 3 and12 g/L with a mean of 8.1 g/L.
