  • "challenges and concerns related to ethical considerations since both the primary and secondaryresearch is involved within the parameters of the study of diversity issues experienced in theconstruction industry of South Africa. One of the critical challenges that can arise in data analysis could be ensuring that the responsesfrom each participant are accurately compared to the other respondents using a standard format(Morse, 2016). This potential challenge will bring into focus the manner in which thequestionnaire is developed. It is essential to develop the opinion-based questionnaire in astructured and unified manner consisting of the same questions that will be distributed to theparticipantsReliability as postulated by Leedy and Ormrod (2010) describes that consistency of measurewithout bias ensures the element of research reliability.Researchers Zarkada-Fraser and Skitmore(2000) emphasise the importance of developing a section-based opinion survey based onmultiple choices, open-ended and declarative questions. The survey will further identifydemographic, professional and cultural backgrounds of the participants (Easterby-Smith et al.,2012).The participants will be communicated with by way of web-based methods, namely emailaddresses found in the registration database of the Construction Industry Development Board ofSouth Africa (CIDB, 2013).This will be aimed at the target population within South Africa’sconstruction industry where some of the respondents are registered professionals with a basicunderstanding of ethical considerations. A web-based survey method further encourages thechosen participants to express their views in an honest and safe manner without fear of beingvictimised since some of the opinions expressed will be of a sensitive nature. However, extremecare must be taken since over-generalisation could be a negative factor for targeting samplegroups (Easterby-Smith et al., 2012).The software program that will be used is the popular anduser-friendly application called surveymonkey.com.20 | P a g e The standardised questionnaire will allow the analysis to be performed in a more consolidatedmanner (Woodward, 2013). This will enable the data analysis to provide a more accurateoverview of the responses for each question in terms of percentage that indicates the weight ofthe response either in agreement or in disagreement to the question. This data collectionmethod will allow the research to present the findings in both graphical and interpretationalrepresentations.Furthermore, the separate data analysis of both the qualitative and quantitative methods willprovide the findings associated with the research question in a less effective way (Vaismoradi etal., 2013). It is further required to have basic understanding and knowledge of operationalfunctionality of the surveymonkey.com application, thus giving the researcher an understandingto not only upload the questionnaire but also recruit the participants based on the ethics criteriaof employment (Bernard et al., 2016). Hence, the familiarity with the online survey platform willbe achieved byvisiting the online site frequently to acquaint oneself on the method of variousnavigation and functional tools found in the tutorials of the application. This knowledge willensure that the research is undertaken in an accurate and efficient manner.2.15 Presentation of dataThe presentation of the data analysis is critical for this study since it provides the ability todemonstrate the key findings associated with each question within the research study (Bryman,2015). 2.16 Data analysis technique21 | P a g e The data analysis will be driven by the (IBM SPSS) statistics software to compute, analyse andformulate the hypothesis of the study. According to Sekaran (2003) “data gathered arestatistically analysed to see if the hypotheses that were generated have been supported”.The following techniques will also be used for data analysis of this research namely:1. Descriptive Statistics 2. Inferential Statistics 3. T-test 4.ANOVA Surveys and questionnaires for reliability and consistency will make use of a Likert rating scale of1 to 5 where:1 =disagree2 = disagree somewhat3 = neither agree not disagree4 = agree somewhat 5 = agree2.17 Presentation formats22 | P a g e Two formats of presentation have been identified to demonstrate the findings obtained from therespondents. The graphical representational technique will be used to highlight the visualformats to present the details. Graphs and tables will be used to illustrate the findings relevant toeach question asked of the respondents within the framework of the analysis (Creswell, 2013).2.18 Rationale for formats usedThe graph and table formats will be used in the research as the graph will be most effective inillustrating the information of the different responses provided by the participants. It will furtherindicate the percentage and amount of respondents who have agreed and disagreed with therelated questions (Flick, 2013). The table will be used as one of the presentation formats in thisresearch since it will be demonstrated secondary to the graph. The tables will further be selectedfor utilisation purposes because it will not only illustrate the data but provide the in-depth detailsof responses for each question (Miles et al., 2013). The table will be effective in establishing thenumber of participants who agreed and disagreed to the question along with the percentage- based analysis followed by interpretation. 2.19 Designing data presentation to avoid misinterpretationData presentations will be designed in a manner that propounds the complete responses of theparticipants indicating not only the positive but also the negative responses. The interpretationwill be given for each question that is analysed using the graph and the contingency tablemethod (Frels and Onwuegbuzie, 2013). This will be performed by using the exploratory factoranalysis (EFA) which is a data reduction method that reduces large set samples into smaller moreaccurate components, thus ensuring that the notion of misinterpretation is avoided throughaccurate presentation of data (Easterby-Smith et al., 2012).23 | P a g e "
