The organization is right now made up of 193 states. In the foundingcharter of UN, there are purposes and principles which guide the work and the mission of theorganisation. UN consists of six main organs: the General Assembly, the Council of security, theeconomic and social council, the council of trusteeship, the court of international justice and thesecretariat of UN ("debate in the UN," n.d.,). All the above organs were established in 1945 thetime UN was established. The General Assembly consists of the 193 member states of the UnitedNations. Admission of states to the membership of the UN is done by a decision made by theGeneral Assembly after a recommendation of the Security Council.The secretary-General of the organisation of the United Nations acts as a symbol of UN’sideals and is a spokesman the people’s interests, in particular, those who are less privileged. Thecurrent secretary-general is Mr. Antonio Guterres, who came to power on 1 January 2017. Thesecretary-general is the chief officer in administration as described by the UN charter. TheSecretariat of the UN, one of the main organs is organised along the lines of departments, whereevery department have a different area of work and responsibility ("Education, multilateralismand the UN," n.d.,). Departments and offices have coordination with other to enable cohesion asthey do day to day function of the organization in various positions in the world and dutystations. The Secretariat of the UN is headed by the secretary-general. The system of UN whichis commonly referred to us the UN family is composed of UN itself and many programs whichare affiliated, funds and agencies which are specialized, UN is own membership, budget, andleadership. Contributions which finance the programs are voluntary. The agencies which are GLOBALISATION3specialized are international organizations which are independent and are funded by bothcontributions which are assessed and voluntary.Globalisation is the process through which people, companies, and governments interactand integrate. The process of globalisation is promoted by investment and international trade andis assisted by information technology (Kester, 2017,). The factors which have major inglobalisation are advancements in the infrastructures of telecommunications and transportation.The role of UNThe United Nations’ role cannot be replaced by any other organization in the worldaffair. The United Nations has played a great role in keeping international peace and security. Ithas promoted States cooperation and international development ("62/21 Verification in all itsaspects, including the role of the United Nations in the field of verification," 2008,). Up to datepeople still face peace and development issues which are the major issues. Challenges of globaland regional issues can only be met by mankind through international cooperation. The UnitedNations play a very important and positive role in meeting these challenges of regional andglobal issues. The role of UN in this new century and promotion of international economic andpolitical order is strengthened by the trend of history and is found in the interests of all memberstates.Efforts are being made to uphold the functions and principles of the United Nationscharter aimed at strengthening the United Nations’ role ("Chapter II. The United Nations Role inColonial Wars," n.d.,). There are also efforts to preserve the authority of the council of securityof keeping international security and peace and strengthen the role of UN in the developmentarea. The role of UN is strengthened by that all member states of the UN have rights to same GLOBALISATION4participation in affairs which are international and safeguard rights and interests of countriesdevelopment.The UN was formed after the Second World War II in the year 1945 with one major rolein maintaining international security and peace. The UN performs this task by ensuring there isno conflict. They help parties in conflict to keep peace and come up conditions which peaceflourish and hold. It is a primary responsibility for the UN Security Council to maintaininternational peace and security.Major, complimentary and important roles are played by thesecretary general and the general assembly along with other offices and bodies of the UN.Human rights’ protection and promotion is a key function and a principle that guides theorganization. In the year 1948, the human rights’ declaration brought the rights of human into theinternational law’s realm. Since then, the UN has protected the rights of human diligently usinglegal tools and on the ground functions.Another role of the UN is attaining international cooperation in trying to do away withinternational problems of humanitarian character. The above was done Europe, which helpedEurope to rebuild in the aftermath of World War II. The UN coordinates the operations ofhumanitarian aid due to calamities which are man-made or natural in areas which are past thenational authorities’ relief capacity alone.The UN has a priority of achieving international cooperation in trying to solvehumanitarian character, economic cultural and social problems. It also encourages and promoteshuman rights respect and fundamental freedoms’ respect for all people discriminations based onreligion, language, sex, and race. UN focuses on improvement of well of people. Development GLOBALISATION5that encourages prosperity and well-being of people and environmental protection is beingpromoted by the UN.The UN has an obligation of putting into place conditions over which respect and justicefor the duties coming up from treaties can be well maintained. The most key part of UN is thedevelopment of the law of international and its respect. The above work is done in some ways; itis done by the courts, it can be done by tribunals and even the Security Council which makeapprovals of missions of peacemaking, put sanctions or allow the use of force during threats topeace and security internationally. The powers are stated in the charter of the UN and are takento be an international treaty.United Nations developmentThe development program of the UN is the development network globally. The UnitedNations Development Program has its headquarters in New York City and allows change andgives countries connection to knowledge, resources, and experiences to assist people to improvetheir lives. It gives expert advice, trains and gives support to countries which are developing,with more emphasis on assisting those countries which are less developed. To makeencouragement of development globally, the Development Program of UN aims at povertyreduction, governance which is democratic, environment and energy, prevention of crisis andHIV/AIDS("London Declaration’s role in the fight against wildlife trade," 2014,). Thedevelopment program also calls for rights of human and women’s’ empowerment in most of itsprograms. The development program is entirely financed by contributions from the memberstates, and the contributions are voluntary. Operations of the organization are done in 177countries, where it functions with the governments locally to attain development challengesimprove the local capacity.
