Median: The line-segment joining the vertex of a triangle to the middle point of the opposite side is called a median.
Altitudes: The perpendicular drawn from a vertex of a triangle to the opposite side is called an altitude.
(4) The line segment joining the midpoint of any two sides of a triangle, is parallel to the third side and equal to half of it.
(5) The line drawn through the midpoint of one triangle, parallel to another side, intersects the third side at its midpoint.
(6) If there are three parallel lines and the intercepts made by them on one transversal are equal, then the intercepts on any other transversal are also equal.

Theorem (Converse of Pythagoras Theorem): In a triangle, if the square on one side is equal to the sum of the squares on the remaining two sides, then the angle opposite to the first side is a right angle.
