Divider

The divider is a tool along with hardened steel points used for transferring measurements, as comparing distances and marking arcs and circles. Spring divider is usually used everywhere for similar purpose. Diagram, depicts a spring divider. Dividers are adjustable and are categorized according to size that is by maximum opening among the two points.

To set divider to the size, place one point on 1 cm of rule and adjust another point until it splits the graduation line at right distance. The graduation lines on a ruler are V-shaped and a divider may be set much more exactly by "feeling" that the point is on the graduation line than as compared to by seeing it visually.
